The 2015 Holy Shroud Exposition takes place during the Celebrations for the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, the Holy founding father of the Salesian society. At the center of the Salesian world, the Maria Ausiliatrice church is not far from the Cathedral of Turin, where the Holy Shroud is shielded and now exhibited from 19th April to 24th June. Maria Ausiliatrice is the mother house of the Salesian society.
Here Saint John Bosco, popularly known as Don Bosco, began his charity activities on behalf of the poor young people of Turin and then gradually, by means of his Sons and Daughters (the famous Salesian Family), on behalf of the Young people of the whole world.
This church shields the remains of Don Bosco himself along with the ones of his disciples: his successor, Michele Rua; Domenico Savio, the only fifteen-year-old scholar of Don Bosco, that in turn was proclaimed Saint in 1954, and finally Maria Mazzarello, the founder of the Salesian Daughters of Maria Ausiliatrice.
