Turin, 27th April 2010- On Monday evening a large group of people took part in the Dome to bishop Timothy Verdon’s meditation session “Contemplare Cristo” (Contemplating Christ). Bishop Timothy Verdon is the director of the Cultural Heritage Office of Florence diocese and the responsible for the Venaria Reale exhibition, “Gesù, Il corpo, il volto nell’arte”. Cardinal Severino Poletto was also present at the meeting.
Three Juventus Football Club players, Gianluigi Buffon, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Christian Poulsen went on pilgrimage to the Shroud on Tuesday morning. With them there was also the team manager Roberto Bettega with his wife.
Among Tuesday’s pilgrims there were 250 believers from Chiavari diocese along with bishop Alberto Tanasini. In the afternoon, also 2,000 people from Novara. A large number of pilgrims came from outside Italy: around 100 of them from Belgium, 50 from Bosnia Herzegovina, 60 from Czech Republic, 200 from Poland, over 300 from Slovenia and 100 from Hungary and a group of believers from Canada, with the Archbishop of Ottawa, Terrence Prendergast.
