A delegation of over 55 members of the Italian Parliament saw the Shroud this morning. Among those present, there were Pier Ferdinando Casini, Maurizio Lupi, Giorgio Merlo and Paola Binetti. They were accompanied by their families and by the President of Pontifical Academy for Life, Father Rino Fisichella. First the politicians met the Archbishop of Turin Severino Poletto. Poletto underlined that “the Shroud should remind everybody of Christ’s Passion and make all humanity more sensitive towards our brothers’ pains and sorrows”. 
 

In the morning, also the President of the Italian Senate of the Republic, Renato Schifani worshipped the Shroud with his wife. “I felt a strong emotion seeing Jesus’ sacrifice to save humanity- Schifani declared- Everybody should help those who are suffering, beginning from little daily actions”.
