Turin, 21st April 2010- The affluence of pilgrims to the “Penitenzieria” (the place where pilgrims can do penance) and the Adoration Chapel of Palazzo Chiablese (between the Dome and the piazzetta Reale) continues. Penitenzieria and Adoration Chapel are open every day from 7.30 am till 6.30 pm.
Over 200 priests, of different nationalities and speaking various languages, are there to listen to people who want to confess (mainly middle-aged women) in one of the ten confessionals at disposal. Some of them come from Turin and the local area, many others are young priests from all over the world. They usually study in pontificial universities and reach Turin during the weekend.
Among today’s pilgrims, different delegations from any part of Italy of “Cavalieri del lavoro” (Italian businessmen and professionals who distinguished themselves in different sectors of economy and contributed to the growth of “made in Italy”). They were accompanied by the national President of the Federation, Benito Benedini. In the evening, also 68 university professors belonging to the association Docenti universitari cattolici (Catholic university professors) worshipped the Shroud.
