Press Conference with Mons. Nosiglia, Elide Tisi, Maurizio Baradello - The Deposition by Beato Angelico will be exhibited at the same time as the exhibition - Nearly 600 thousand bookings - The role of the partners - The Shroud on the Valmora water bottle labels to encourage bookings.
The Deposition is a priceless and highly emotional painting. The "Deposition of the dead Christ" (1436) by Giovanni da Fiesole called Beato Angelico, will be on display in Turin, in the Diocesan Museum until the end of the Exhibition period. This loan is of great cultural importance and highlights the depth and breadth of the network, dedication and teamwork that this exposition is capable of inspiring. Contibuting to the initiative are, the Consulta per Torino, the group that brings together companies for the enhancement of our artistic and cultural heritage, and the Association of Sant’Anselmo, the arm of the Italian Episcopal Conference for the promotion of cultural activities. Sant 'Anselmo also administers the presence of the CEI at the Turin Book Fair, and has contributed to the exhibition on Jesus at La Reggia di Venaria in 2010.
This event, as mentioned by the Archbishop of Turin, Monsignor Nosiglia in his presentation this morning, represents a precise style of “cultural presence “ by the Church in Italy. These activities are designed to " provide meaning", in order to remind us of deep values and current issues of everyday life, in times that apparently are dominated by cultural relativism and ethical indifference.
The Deposition will be exhibited in the Diocesan Museum from April 16 to June 30 (www.museodiocesanotorino.it). Ticket are available at reduced cost - 4 euros - and can be booked via this website. Please remember that the visit to the Shroud is completely free, although reservations are required.
Reservations - To date we are approaching 600 thousand reservations (588,343), a trend that bodes well, said the Deputy Mayor Elide Tisi, President of the Organizing Committee of the Exhibition . Preparatory work is reaching a decisive phase: the Cathedral was closed on 21st of January and the work necessary to prepare for the exposition and the stream of pilgrims has started. Iren’s services as a "promoting member' of the organizing committee allows us to entrust this group with the role of "general contractor" for all design and implementation along the route from the Royal Gardens to the Prelecture area and the Cathedral. It is also working to define all aspects of hospitality, from welcoming young visitors to "La giornata del Papa", The Day of the Pope in Turin with specific attention on encouraging participation of the sick, disabled and disadvantaged groups.
The partners – During the Exhibition, An important role will also be played by the many partners working for the success of the exhibition. Maurizio Baradello, Director General, described the framework of collaboration, ranging from mobility and hospitality services to the supply of materials and services. This is a list that is being constantly updated, so that other partners can be added in the near future, in view of the necessary collaborations to organize the visit of Pope Francis (The full list of partners is in the cards for journalists, at www.sindone.org).
Communication – Marco Bonatti, Communication Director, presented the new version of the official website. This site is also translated in English thanks to the collaboration of Shenker and in French, thanks to the help of the City of Chambéry.
Another initiative to communicate the Exhibition is the one assumed in collaboration with acqua Valmora.
