Accredited Journalists About fifteen hundred journalists were accredited during the period of the Exposition of the Shroud; five hundred and one of them requested and received the pass to be allowed to attend the Popes visit on May 24. As for Italian press, the highest number of accredited journalists were from radio stations and television channels (two hundred forty people) and from Catholic press (a hundred eleven people); in addition to many reporters from newspapers (eighty-four) and free lancers (eighty). Fifty-two people were accredited for various weekly magazines and about seventy were those from monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, six-monthly and forthnightly magazines. We also ought to mention fifty-three accredited journalists from press agencies, eighteen from press offices and three from various corporations such as: Provincia di Torino (Torinos Provincial government) and the Ente Ricerche e Comunicazioni Sociali (governmental agency for social research and communication). Two hundred forty-five journalists came from abroad: the majority from England (about forty), from Germany (thirty-five), from France and from the U.S. (about thirty journalists from each of these countries). Accredited journalists from Switzerland and Spain were also numerous. Many journalists came from other continents, besides those from the U.S. there were five Australians, three Mexicans, two from Argentina and a journalist from Brazil. Some Polish and Ucranian journalists represented the Eastern countries. There were representatives also from Cittą del Vaticano, Repubblica di San Marino and Lichtestein. A journalist came from Israel, two from Malta and one from South Africa. As for the number of newspapers: five hundred fifty of them contacted the expositions press office. Among the Italian ones, sixty-five were weekly magazines and sixty-five were Catholic journals. We find then daily newspapers (fifty-eight) and about thirty monthly magazines. Then there were about twenty-six press agencies and thirteen press offices. The foreign newspapers, agencies, radio stations and TV channels were a hundred and forty-five. They were mainly from Germany, France, England and U.S. The results of the work of the journalists were collected in print in a press review volume. Although it is not complete (the event was popular all over the world), it contains numerous articles, dossiers and surveys taken from prestigious newspapers but also from independent press. Unfortunately it is not possible to have all the news reports. They were realized by many TV networks from all over the world, such as the English BBC and the American CNN.
