Shroud

The shroud is by tradition the cloth that Veronica used to wipe Christ`s face on mount Calvary. However, in John`s Gospel the shroud is only mentioned as the cloth used to cover the face of the dead. When Peter enters the empty sepulcher : "he saw the linen cloths lying there and the cloth which had been around Jesus` head. It was not lying whit the linen cloths but was rolled up by itself" (20,6-7).
