Realistic
For centuries the aim of painting was to reproduce the truth, to repeat reality perfectly. Only in the twentieth century, with the dismantling of reality and the introduction of visions that gave the subject (the painter) the primacy on the object(what is painted), that great foundation of art was questioned. Obviously, realism enables the spectator to enjoy freely an art work, while this usually does not happen in paintings where the realistic reference has been lost.
