Nicodemus
He is generally represented in the scene of the
death of Christ, although none of the Gospels indicated his
presence near the Cross. John's Gospel, however, mentions him in
the episode of the entombment (19:39). Nicodemus was one of the
rulers of the Jews. In John 3:1-21 Jesus talks with him one
night. During this interview the Lord foretold his immolation for
the salvation of the Man and His ascension from the Earth. In
another verse (7:40-52) Nicodemus defended Jesus against those
who wanted to arrest him.
