The fire

Often God appears in form of fire. Its brightness lights up the darkness and its energy enlivens. Fire is in fact a sign convenient to God. On mount Oreb Moses is fascinated by the fire that does not consume the bush. (Ex. 3:2) Again, it is a column of fire that leads the people of Israel through the desert in the night. God appears then through the fire when He calls the prophet Ezekiel.(Ez. 21:4) On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles in shape of "tongues like as of fire". (Acts 2:3) This same sign is also one of the signs that will announce the coming of Christ before the last judgment.(Gal. 3:3)
