Living in Prayer

Saint Theresa of Avila used to define prayer as "an exchange of friendship, being often alone with somebody who, we are sure, loves us". Each time we meet Christ we talk with him, in friendship and love; we love and we are loved. In mystic experiences man is completely annuled in God. A man in prayer is like a drop of water that disappears in the ocean of God.

Saint Theresine of Lisieux wrote "To me, prayer is an impulse of my heart, a simple look toward the sky, a cry of gratitude and love in time of suffering and in time of joy. Finally it is something big, something supernatural that enlarges my soul and unites me to Jesus".

Spiritual exercise to pray the Word of God

An alliance in the spirit (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
The prayer is an alliance that God seals deep inside of us. The law is not a formal code any longer, it becomes an inspiration that touches the heart of man. He now deserves to know God.

Love with no restraints (Luke 7:36-50)
Every Son of God, as a forgiven sinner, prays when he is ready to receive the love of his Father. He wants then to respond to it, loving even more. In these verses the behavior of the woman who sinned is like a complete gift, with no restraints, a thanks to Lord Jesus Christ. She teaches us to truly praise the Lord.

Offer your life to Christ (Luke 19:1-10)
Zacchaeus is a man of prayer because his longing for Jesus moves his actions, thoughts and choices. He lets Jesus in his house, and that day will change his life. Prayer is humble reliance on our Father`s will, it keeps us deeply joined to his Holy Son.

Paul's prayer (Ephesians 3:14-19)
In this passage it is shown how strong a prayer can be. Our Father strengthens us with his spirit so that Christ can live in our heart and we are rooted in his love.
