The Shroud is a "mirror" of the Gospels, and its image is a reminescence of the crucifixion of Christ, impressed in the sheet, and of the deposition.
 
Contemplation of the Shroud entails a meditation of the Gospels, under the guidance provided by the Fathers of the Church (in the Patristic Anthology). By focusing on the Shroud, we may learn to pray for the Lord's help in living every experience, even the most grievous ones; thus allowing God's love in, to overcome our anguishes.
